The Afterparty (Apple TV+): The 10-episode second season comedy drops today with the first two episodes, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through September 6. In case you haven’t seen season one, here’s a refresher: The Afterparty explores a different character’s account of one fateful evening, all told through the lens of popular film genres to match the storyteller’s perspective. Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, and Zoë Chao are back this season, along with John Cho, Paul Walter Hauser, Ken Jeong, Anna Konkle, Poppy Liu, Elizabeth Perkins, Jack Whitehall, Zach Woods, and Vivian Wu.

As for season two, here’s what we know, per the official description: “A wedding is ruined when the groom is murdered and every guest is a suspect. Detective Danner (Haddish) returns to help Aniq (Richardson) and Zoë (Chao) solve whodunnit by questioning family members, star-crossed lovers and business partners, and hearing each suspect’s retelling of the weekend, each with their own perspective and visual style.” Streaming

The 2023 ESPYS (ABC): The three-hour telecast honoring some of the best moments and athletes in sports airs tonight. For more on the honorees and tributes, click here. 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT

And Just Like That… (Max): The fifth episode is one of my favorites and directed by Cynthia Nixon. There’s a Halloween party, a guest starring appearance from one of your Younger favorites, and a moment that made the entire Glamour office scream in delight (you’ll see what we mean). Streaming

Survival of the Thickest (Netflix): The eight episode comedy series centers on Mavis Beaumont (Michelle Buteau), a struggling stylist who is determined to thrive with the support of her chosen family and retail therapy. It’s based on Buteau’s acclaimed book of essays and also stars Tone Bell, Tasha Smith, Liza Treyger, Anissa Felix, Garcelle Beauvais, Taylor Selé, Anthony Michael Lopez, Marouane Zottie, Allan K Washington, and Sarah Cooper.
