In the middle of his Spotify concert at the 2023 Cannes Lions Festival on June 21, A$AP paused to send a shout out to Rihanna, who made a surprise appearance in the audience. “I’d like to dedicate this song to my beautiful wife in the motherfucking building,” the rapper announced, per Page Six. Excuse me, did he just say “wife”? When did this happen?
Rihanna, by the way, looked her usual angelic self as she watched from the VIP section at Cannes as her boyfriend/fiancé/husband performed. The soon-to-be mother of two wore a skintight black-and-sheer dress that showed off her growing baby bump, and had her hair pulled back into a sleek ponytail. The ANTI singer was seen sipping a glass of water and grooving to the music with friends from the balcony.
To be fair, it’s not as if this kind of surprise announcement would be out of character for the music superstar power couple. Remember, we didn’t even learn the name of their first son until RZA was nearly a year old. And they waited until Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show performance to reveal that the couple were already expecting baby number two. And even though engagement rumors have been swirling for years now, that’s never been officially confirmed either, says Us Weekly. It would be so on-brand for Rihanna and A$AP Rocky to have gotten secretly married and then randomly drop this bombshell during a concert. Never change, mom and dad.
