Back in 1997, we decided to build a Caterham kit car. Despite the Caterham’s apparent simplicity, the opaque instructions made for a team-bonding experience in the same sense as a shipwreck or a group hostage situation might. But at the end of the day—OK, many days—the car ran and drove and we all got to feel good about the major parts staying attached. Also, it pulled .94 g on the skidpad.
