The new Mazda RX-7 convertible is more than just a coupe with the top sawed off. This drop-top was built from the ground up with its airy pretensions in mind, and the result is a lithe two-door with the kind of handling chops we enjoy. Convertibles took a bit of a hit in the U.S. after the oil crisis tightened belts across the industry, so we’re hopeful that Mazda’s new RX-7 convertible is the start of a resurgence.
