The Sunday 7: Feeling Grateful

No. 1. Syd

Syd gave us quite the scare last week – while on a flight to our project in Houston I got word that he had crashed while mountain biking (and on his birthday, no less). He walked away with a few shattered bones, but mostly intact. We have been full of prayers as he has had several surgeries this week and I added nurse to my resume. He says he is anxious to get out riding again, so I’m glad to know this experience hasn’t broken his adventurous spirit! Feeling really grateful that he’s okay.

No. 2. The Art of Home Launch Event

Wow, Monday’s event was nothing short of beautiful. It was a memorable evening of celebration, gathering with everyone who helped shape this book in some way throughout the years. I continue to be blown away by the positive response to the book – my heart is so full.

No. 3. Threshold x Studio McGee

As always, new and exciting things are on the horizon for our Target collaboration! The team and I were at work photographing a new collection this week and I have to say… it’s gonna be another good one. 😉

No. 4. A New York Times Best Seller and a Billboard!

While I was shooting the aforementioned Target collection, I received the news that The Art of Home is #5 on The New York Times Best Sellers list. I was just sent this photo and to say I was floored is an understatement. Truly cannot even believe that is my book on a billboard in New York City!

No. 5. Entrata

Syd and I were set to speak at this event together, but after his biking accident, he’s been spending the week recovering from surgery; I tackled this one on my own! I got to answer a Q&A, speak to my journey as a designer and entrepreneur, and we even had a little bookcase styling challenge.

No. 6. Ann Sacks

We got to share the official news of our Kohler collaboration the other week and we’re back to share more – a tile line with Ann Sacks! This collaboration has been years in the making and I cannot even describe how amazing it was to have the finished samples in hand for the first time.

Did you catch it?! One of our favorite projects to date was shared over at House Beautiful. Mentally, I am there.
