WASHINGTON — Stellantis claimed Tuesday that was recalling 76,000 plug in hybrid minivans due to a short circuit issue. This could lead to unexpected engine stalls.
The recall affects 67,000 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans from 2017 to 2023 in the U.S., and approximately 9,000 elsewhere in the world. According to the automaker, an internal wiring connector for the transmission may have shorted, leading to an unexpected engine shut down.
Stellantis stated that it had six customer service records, 242 warranty claims, and 59 field reports possibly related to the issue. However, Stellantis was not aware of any injuries or accidents potentially linked to the recall. Stellantis reported that stalling was occurring in 0.2% of the vehicle population after an internal review of customer data.
Automaker will update power inverter software, and, if necessary, update instrument panel cluster software. The inverter controls the flow of electricity from and to the battery pack.
