Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested and charged with allegedly assaulting his girlfriend Monday, a team source confirmed to The Athletic.
Porter, a 2019 first-round pick, has played with Houston the past three seasons after being traded from Cleveland. The Rockets re-signed the 23-year-old to a four-year, $82.5 million extension in October.
With the Cavaliers, Porter was suspended as a rookie for making contact with a game official and then started the 2020-21 season inactive after being arrested in the offseason. The arrest came after Porter was involved in a one-car accident. Porter was charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, failure to control the vehicle and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
In January 2021, sources told The Athletic that Porter would either be traded or released after an outburst in the locker room. Sources said Porter, whose locker had recently been moved began yelling and at one point threw food.
