Nottingham Forest are working on a deal to sign Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina this summer.
Talks have taken place with the Italian side, with Forest looking to recruit the Serbia international before the start of the new Premier League season.
Milenkovic, 26, is thought to be keen on the move. He played every minute of Serbia’s three group stage matches at this summer’s European Championship — including their opening day defeat to England — but his nation were unable to advance to the knockout stages.
A right-sided central defender, Milenkovic was a key part of the Fiorentina side that reached successive Conference League finals before defeats to West Ham United and Olympiacos in 2023 and 2024 respectively.

Nottm Forest ‘still need to do work’ in transfer window – Nuno
He joined Fiorentina in the summer of 2017 from hometown club Partizan Belgrade and has gone on to make 263 first-team appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals.
Forest, who finished 17th in the Premier League last season, have been keen to reinforce their central defensive options because of the recent sale of Moussa Niakhate to Lyon.
Milenkovic would, in theory, play alongside Murillo, Forest’s player of the season, in the centre of defence – if, as looks increasingly likely, the Brazilian remains at the City Ground.
Forest made Brazilian goalkeeper Carlos Miguel their third signing of the summer transfer window earlier this week.
Midfielder Elliot Anderson joined from Newcastle United earlier in the month, while the 18-year-old right-back Eric da Silva Moreira moved to the City Ground from German club St Pauli.
