North Carolina State safety Rakeim Ashford was stretchered off the field during the Wolfpack’s game against the UConn Huskies on Thursday in Connecticut.
A CBS Sports Network sideline reporter said Ashford showed signs of movement.
Ashford, a graduate student, was hit late on a kickoff return for NC State near the end of the third quarter. Both teams spent about 10 minutes on one knee praying after Ashford was taken off.
Ashford has posted 29 tackles, including 11 solo tackles, and one interception in his three seasons with NC State. He transferred to NC State from Jones County Junior College in Mississippi ahead of the 2020 season.
