Kesha is putting Dr. Luke in the rearview at last.
The singer-songwriter and her former producer have agreed to a settlement after their nine-year legal battle, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which began in 2014 when Kesha alleged that Dr. Luke had drugged and sexually assaulted her. Dr. Luke denied the allegations and sued Kesha for defamation and breech of contract. Their settlement now comes less than a month before the defamation suit was set to go to trial in July.
In a statement posted to Instagram Kesha writes, “Only God knows what happened that night. As I have always said, I cannot recount everything that happened.” She continued, “I am looking forward to closing the door on this chapter of my life and beginning a new one. I wish nothing but peace to all parties involved.”

Also included in the post is Dr. Luke’s statement. “While I appreciate Kesha again acknowledging that she cannot recount what happened that night in 2005, I am absolutely certain that nothing happened,” he wrote. “I never drugged or assaulted her and would never do that to anyone. For the sake of my family, I have vigorously fought to clear my name for nearly 10 years. It is time for me to put this difficult matter behind me and move on with my life. I wish Kesha well.”
Just a month earlier, Kesha released her appropriately titled album Gag Order. “With this album, it was the first time I shed real light on subjects that, previously, I was too nervous to,” she told SELF in an interview in June. “This was me saying, ‘Yeah, I’ve had this self-imposed, implied gag order since I can remember, ’cause I’m still in litigation.’”
And now that litigation is finally over.
