Kate Middleton knows that you can’t support early childhood development without also offering support for parents—especially those who are most vulnerable. Which is why the Princess of Wales was present for the opening of Hope Street, a charitable program that provides women in the justice system who would otherwise be imprisoned a safe space to live with their children, according to People.

“Hope Street offers a community alternative for women who would otherwise be imprisoned unnecessarily due to a lack of safe accommodation or concerns around their wellbeing,” reads a statement from Kensington Palace. “The pilot aims to demonstrate how a compassionate and supportive approach towards women in the justice system can have a transformative impact and improve outcomes for society, providing a blueprint which can be scaled across the country.”
Princess Kate has been especially active lately in promoting charities and non-profit organizations that promote childhood well-being, such as her June 15 visit to the Riversley Park Children’s Centre in Nuneaton, and her visit to the Windsor Family Hub on June 6. It’s also fair to say that the Hope Street initiative is in line with Prince William’s recent charitable efforts to combat homelessness, which he is promoting with a new program called Homewards.
