Jack Harrison has agreed to join Everton on a season-long loan from Leeds United.

The Premier League club have triggered a clause in the 26-year-old’s contract that will see him join on a temporary basis with Everton likely to push to make the move permanent in due course.

A medical was completed at the club’s Finch Farm training ground on Sunday with the deal now moving on to the signing of contracts.

Premier League rivals Aston Villa considered a move for Harrison but had concerns over his expected recovery time from a recent injury.

A hip problem has seen him miss the start of Leeds’ Championship campaign and is likely to sideline him until after September’s international break.

Harrison was always a top target for Everton alongside Arnaut Danjuma, who joined on loan from Villarreal in July.

He will become the fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Ashley Young on a free transfer and Youssef Chermiti from Sporting Lisbon in a £15million deal.

In leaving Elland Road, Harrison joins a growing list of first-team exits with more likely to follow.

Willy Gnonto, Luis Sinisterra and Tyler Adams have all been linked with following Robin Koch, Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca and Brenden Aaronson out the door this summer.

Everton lost their Premier League opener to Fulham on Saturday. They are next in action against Aston Villa on Sunday, August 20.
