J. Calnan and Associates (JC&A) one of the largest merit shop construction managers in the Northeast and a construction management leader in the life sciences industry, recently hosted two appreciation events for its subcontractors at their most recent Lab
Redevelopment projects, located at 690 Canton Ave in Westwood, MA and 14-16 Oak Park Drive in Bedford, MA.
With over $3 Billion of work in place, including 700,000 SF of projects for life sciences clients under construction, JC&A knows that the key to their success is working with partners they can trust. In keeping with that tradition, JC&A’s project sites are often treated to appreciation lunches – this time, a barbecue feast catered by Big Pig BBQ. After hearing a brief speech from their respective Project Executives expressing gratitude, subcontractors lunched on fresh-off-the-grill steak tips, chicken and burgers, creamy homemade
macaroni and cheese, potato salad and corn bread. After lunch, everyone was gifted a customized tee-shirt featuring JC&A’s trademark “We Build…®” tagline and the project logo.

At 690 Canton Ave in Westwood, JC&A partnered with Ci Design and JB&B Engineers to deliver a 165,000 SF lab redevelopment for Lightstone. Upon completion, the revitalized facility will offer move-in ready R&D suites ranging from 5,000 SF to 17,000 SF.
Lightstone’s lab redevelopment project at 14-16 Oak Park in Bedford includes conversion of two existing buildings for lab space, totaling 160,000 SF. Project highlights include utility upgrades for power and gas, eight (8) new dunnage platforms to support all new roof equipment, new freight elevators, MEP replacement and envelope improvements. The team of JC&A, Ci Design and JB&B Engineers will also deliver a new amenities center and cafe.
