How This Automaker Is Defining The Next Frontier Of Functional Art

When a vehicle — which serves a clear utilitarian purpose — is designed with an intentional reverence for aesthetics, can it become a piece of functional art? The Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron seems to be proof that the answer is yes. Whether you consider its contoured leather interior, streamlined silhouette, sleek roofline, or a combination of details, the machine is as much form as it is function.

The Q8 Sportback e-tron represents a culmination of more than a century of cutting edge Audi innovation, boasting an aerodynamic build, progressive steering, and the ability to adapt to optimize comfort and driving dynamics. The vehicle’s rear electric motor has been upgraded for improved performance and efficiency, allowing it to launch from 0-60 mph in as little as 5.4 seconds.* Increased battery charging speed, an EPA-estimated range of 300 miles for the 2024 Q8 Sportback e-tron with Ultra package, and two years of unlimited charging with Electrify America‡ (a network of cross-country stations) make charging on long trips or in metro areas a seamless process — and demonstrate Audi’s position as an industry leader in zero direct emission mobility.

At the same time, the Q8 Sportback e-tron is designed to reinforce the connection between driver and vehicle. With a range of customizable exterior colors and wheels, every e-tron is an art piece personalized to its driver. For those who prefer a pristine look, the metallic Glacier White shade catches the light beautifully. Or select the timeless Daytona Gray, with a subtle pearl effect that glistens just enough. All six available hues are meant to complement other premium features, like the Digital Matrix-design LED headlights with programmable start-up and returning home dynamic light displays and power soft-closing doors, each available in the prestige trim, plus optional 21-inch 5-arm aero structure design wheels.

The sleek design continues in the interior, prioritizing simplicity over complexity while offering a range of personalization options. A customizable virtual cockpit puts key information at the driver’s fingertips via a stunning HD display. Optional strategically placed Bang & Olufsen speakers immerse riders in a rich soundscape, creating a finely tuned listening experience. Drivers can select seats wrapped in Valcona/Milano leather, with front seats featuring 18-way adjustable individual contours with massage function, all at an ideal temperature, programmed ahead of time via remote climatization with the myAudi app.

The styling of both the exterior and interior of the Q8 Sportback e-tron are deliberately clean and simple, with each element having a logical connection to and harmony with the next. The intention is not only to envelop the Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron owner in a premium driving experience but to create a functional art piece that is set apart from the rest. Take your senses for a ride and feel, see, and hear everything the latest electric vehicle from Audi has to offer.
