Sometimes fashion is all about embracing the extremes. See Hailey Bieber, who styled the largest leather jacket I’ve ever seen in my life with the tiniest shorts in existence (an alternative to her usual extra-long jorts). Call it Gen Z’s take on a short skirt and a loooooong jacket.
The first pic in a lengthy carousel of photos Bieber posted to her IG on June 21 shows the YouTuber in an all-black look combining a leather bomber jacket (vintage, by the look of it) with shorts and a pair of flat mules. The jacket takes the word oversized to the extreme, reaching below the hem of her barely there black shorts and adding about three square feet of volume in the shoulders (I’m guessing here; I don’t have the exact dimensions of this jacket). The shorts, meanwhile, are just this side of the no-pants trend.

“HOME. 🌆🌃🍎✅,” Bieber captioned the post, which included several other pics of her New York City looks. In another photo from the same carousel, Bieber wears a cropped white tee with baggy white Bermuda shorts and sandals with socks. In yet another, Bieber channels the It girls of the 2000s with a black tube top and wide-leg trousers. The gigantic jacket makes another appearance in the fifth slide, this time paired with straight-leg jeans and another cropped white tee.
Hailey Bieber has been called the queen of oversized coats, and this exact bomber has already made an appearance this year, topping an itsy-bitsy white underwear set in an IG post from April. Some of the model’s greatest baggy hits also include a boxy camel trench coat she wore in May, as well as several puffer coats paired with short shorts that was her winter uniform.
Rule of thumb: The bigger the coat, the shorter the shorts.
