Although summer is still very much underway, the world of fashion has colder months on the mind. One after another, brands will soon begin to unveil their fall/winter campaigns, most of which will feature familiar faces from the worlds of music, modeling, and acting dressed in the season’s hottest styles. Prada has already kicked off the season with an actor-heavy photo set featuring Kodi Smit-McPhee, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Hunter Schafer among others in floral shots from Willy Vanderperre. But that’s just the beginning, and now that the campaigns have started rolling out, they won’t stop anytime soon. Check back here often as we track the latest surprise stars and eye-catching images of the fall/winter 2023 season.
Carolina Herrera
When it came to showing off their iconic bags, Carolina Herrera could only look toward an equally iconic face. For their latest campaign, the house tapped Christy Turlington to show off the craftsmanship created in their Spanish atelier. In a set a photos taken by Brigitte Lacombe that were inspired by ancient Spanish art of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the collaboration between Turlington and Carolina Herrera “conveys the concept of timelessness and impeccable skill that defines each piece created by the house,” according to a press release.

Lacombe’s images are set in a studio, against an off-white backdrop, decorated with nothing but pieces of beautiful, hand-carved furniture. Turlington sits in a denim dress while delicately holding onto a top handle bag, or resting a clutch on her barely made-up face. The campaign centers on timeless beauty, embracing the excellence of the classics.
Dion Lee
All eyes may currently be on Madonna for the 40th anniversary of the singer’s self-titled album, but Dion Lee is focused on the next generation. The fashion brand tapped the singer’s daughter, Lola Leon, to star in the campaign for their Cage Chain Link collection, a capsule comprised of handbags, jewelry, and ready-to-wear covered in Italian-made chains.

In photos shot by Carlota Guerrero, the model and artist swings from a leather seat, hung up by silver chains while crying tears made of the campaign’s titular material. Other shots show Leon in a bikini made of the collection’s bags—and one of the 26-year-old getting in on some creative work herself: sitting naked at a desk, chains decorating her workspace.
Loewe
Omar Apollo and Jamie Dornan star in the Loewe fall/winter 2023 men’s campaign, which pays homage to old masters, as well as the artist Julien Nguyen, who inspired Jonathan Anderson’s collection.
Loewe
Apollo and Dornan are both the artists and the subjects in the ads, posing in front of plastic sheets that blur the background, leaving the focus on the stars and their clothing. Shot by David Sims, the images emphasize Loewe’s “reductionist spirit” by showing off some of the more traditional pieces within the collection. Dornan lounges in all-black, displaying a suede puzzle tote. Apollo sits in branded long underwear and kneels in a purple cardigan. Texture is at the forefront of the campaign—with the denim, wool, and satin almost jumping off the models’ bodies and out of the screen.
Versace
Following the explosion of color that was Versace’s pre-fall La Vacanza collection in collaboration with Dua Lipa, the brand is toning it down a tad for their fall/winter 2023 campaign shot by photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot. Starring Gigi Hadid, Karolina Spakowski, Angelina Kendall, and Anok Yai, the black and white images set against a stark, blank background leave all the attention on the clothes. While Donatella’s fall/winter 2023 collection did feature pieces in Barbie pink and bright florals, the campaign focuses on the black suits and tailored dresses, emphasizing silhouette.
Versace
“This campaign celebrates everything I love about Versace: The power, the tailoring, the attitude,” Donatella Versace said in a statement. “I love the black and white images that really showcase the iconic silhouette of the season.”
Balenciaga
Following her runway debut at the couture show in July, Isabelle Huppert has returned to front yet another Balenciaga campaign. The actress stars alongside models Vittoria Ceretti, Minttu Vesala, Arthur del Beato, and more in images set at Balenciaga’s birthplace within 10-12 avenue George V in Paris.
The location is especially significant as it is currently under construction, soon to be reestablished as Balenciaga’s headquarters. For now, the setting made for the perfect backdrop for the brand’s winter 2023 campaign, providing a contrast between the clothing and the surrounding construction, allowing for “an ironic point of comparison.”
Balenciaga
Shot by Tyler Mitchell, the campaign shows off some of Demna’s signatures, like the printed, pleated skirt and blouse on Hubert, as well as oversized proportions, rounded shoulders, and cinched waists. The images also introduce some new accessories, including the Monaco bag line, new boot styles, and some covetable eyewear.
Miu Miu
The stars of Miu Miu’s fall/winter 2023 show returned to their embellished bloomers and tousled their hair just-so for the collection’s campaign. Shot by Zoë Ghertner, the photos display Ethel Cain, Emma Corrin, Mia Goth, Amelia Gray Hamlin, Zaya Wade, and more who walked the presentation last March as they re-embrace the character tropes Miuccia Prada initially introduced during the collection’s debut. Goth, Corrin, and Gray play the bookish good girls, while Cain and Wade show a little more power and attitude with their textured coat sets.

The setting of a tonal gray background places these characters in an abyss, allowing their stories to remain ever-changing. Is Goth a simple, sweet secretary, or an Eve Harrington figure looking to undermine the boss and nab his job? More likely, both, or at least somewhere in between. With this collection, Prada has created a world where the characters inhabit many personas in one shot.

Gossamer sheer skirts contrast against thick, leather coats. Turtlenecks are paired with extravagant panties. There is no in between these extremes, nothing to bridge the gap. The styling too, is a little off—the glasses are slightly askew, the hair a bit a mess. Still, everything somehow comes together to create a clear picture of the Miu Miu woman.
Cartier
BTS member V (Kim Taehyung) has been named as the latest Cartier ambassador, starting off his tenure with the brand by fronting the newest Panthère de Cartier campaign. The image is simple—a closeup of V in a blood red blazer, showing off a sculptural ring and panther-shaped necklace. V stares down the viewer like a predator stares down his prey, proving himself to be the perfect choice to don Cartier’s iconic Panthére pieces.
“When it came to embodying the magnetism and aura of the panther, our choice naturally fell on V,” said Arnaud Carrez, Cartier’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer. “He has the look and strength of character. A personality whose choices are guided by creativity as a dancer, musician or art lover, with this style and this elegance that belong only to him.”
Loro Piana
It’s fitting that one of the main purveyors of quiet luxury is fully embracing the movement for its fall/winter 2023 campaign. This isn’t Succession cosplay, but rather a reminder of why Loro Piana has long been a go-to for the inconspicuous elite, with a set of images, captured by Glen Luchford, that explore the idea of “precious garments made for precious memories.”
Models Selena Forrest, Henry Kitcher, Awar Odhiang and Raquel Zimmermann star in the campaign, which emphasizes intimate moments, hence the familiar bedroom setting. The clothes in the shots are simple—a knit cardigan, ribbed sweater—with the exception of a printed housecoat, which stands out against a velvet bedspread.
Loro Piana
It’s all about simple elegance, an effect Loro Piana mastered long ago. The setting of a sparsely decorated house evokes that feeling of comfort, while providing an emphasis on the clothes instead of the background. It’s not about the garments, but the lives we embrace while in them—the enhancement that comes when you’re comfortable, and wrapped in luxury fabrics.
Burberry
The British Isles act as the setting for Burberry’s winter 2023 campaign, shot by brand favorite Tyrone Lebon on the Isle of Skye in Scotland and Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland. Models bundle up in cozy blankets, argyle sweaters, and trench coats, protecting themselves against the breeze coming off the sea. Daniel Lee’s debut collection for the British brand is on display, and the bright check patterns provide a brilliant contrast to the muted backdrop.
Burberry
The inherently British collection pays homage to Burberry’s past, while simultaneously shepherding it into the future. The brand’s newly designed Equestrian Knight logo (originated in 1901) is front and center in the campaign, as is the new Burberry house color—knight blue—seen in the form of blankets and jackets throughout the images.
Fendi
Fendi’s autumn/winter 2023 collection drew on none other than Delfina Delettrez Fendi, jewelry designer and great granddaughter to the house’s founders. Kim Jones was inspired by Delettrez Fendi, and her own styling of archival Fendi pieces. “It all started with Delfina,” Jones said in the show notes. “There’s a chicness but a perversity to the way she twists Fendi, which is what I love.”
Fendi
The exploration and simultaneous rejection of gendered archetypes come into play as the utilitarian meets the feminine. The collection’s campaign, shot by Craig McDean, depicts this dichotomy—pairing lace-up leather boots, with soft blue sweaters. It also introduces the latest in Fendi’s accessory line, the Origami bag, which displays duality with its multi-use design, a trait Silvia Venturini Fendi calls “very Fendi.”
Prada
Benedict Cumberbatch and Hunter Schafer were joined by fellow world-renowned actors Kodi Smit-McPhee, Letitia Wright, and Li Xian to star in Prada’s fall 2023 campaign for the brand’s men’s and women’s collections. Beauty, care, and love were the values that inspired both the collection and campaign, principles epitomized by the tenderness of flowers. Each shot by Willy Vanderperre shows one of the campaign stars facing off against a respective life-sized flower while dressed in looks from the brand’s fall collection.
Prada
“Flowers themselves are ageless symbols of a beauty between the everyday and the extraordinary,” Prada said in a statement. They also represent dichotomy—“both fragile and strong, precious and quotidian, ephemeral yet eternal, each one unique.”
Prada
The choice of campaign stars was well thought out as well, depicting Prada’s longtime relationship with the world of cinema, as well as an actor’s ability to conjure up emotions such as tenderness and affection, which inspired the collection. “These figures’ mastery of their own craft enables them to evoke these feelings in both still and motion image—through words, action, even a glance,” the brand said.
