Model tested: Saatva Logan Chair in Taupe Vintage Velvet
The details: Saatva is a brand known for high-quality products, top-tier customer service, and their commitment to transparency in their eco-friendly practices. In 2010, founders Ron Rudzin and Ricky Joshi sought to create a mattress brand that offered luxury and comfort at an affordable price. Fast forward to the present day, the company has expanded its product lineup to include bedding and bedroom furniture.
Price: How much does it cost? Are there payment plans available?
The Logan Chair is priced at $959, or as low as $56 per month if financed through Affirm.
What are the upholstery or customization options? Did you choose any? (are there free swatch options available?)
There are three fabric options available for this chair: Taupe Vintage Velvet, Graphite Vintage Velvet, and Natural Linen. I chose the Taupe Vintage Velvet and it was exactly what I wanted, a warm earthy shade with subtle undertones. Free swatches are available after filling out a simple submission form.
What is the lead time for customization, manufacturing, and delivery?
The current lead time for delivery is 7 to 15 business days, and a bonus: The white-glove delivery is free! I also like that Saatva offers a 365-night home trial adding a level of convenience if you need to exchange pieces.
What are the dimensions? How does it fit in your space? Would it be better suited for a different type of home?
The dimensions for this chair are 31 inches tall by 36 inches wide by 30 inches long, with a seat depth of 22.4 inches. It’s a lovely addition to my spacious bedroom, in a perfect corner nook that I’ve been struggling to make decor decisions for. I could envision this chair in a library space or a living room that has space for an accent chair with some depth.
Sit Test: Is it comfortable? Does it feel well made? Does the chair have a tendency to sag?
It is a comfortable chair, the support all around is phenomenal. I immediately felt the reading vibes as I sat in it moments after delivery. I spent the first evening legs folded in on the extra wide, extra filled cushion, elbows secured on the padded arms—very satisfying. I’ve read or worked from the chair for a few weeks, and I’m happy to report no major sagging, though it is slightly broken in. The firmness was the highlight of this chair—I love a supportive seat. It is important to note it can get a bit warm since it is velvet. If that is a concern, the breathable linen may be your best option.
Is the chair suitable for particular decor styles? If so, which?
The Logan Chair is most suitable for a midcentury-modern style space. Though, with the available upholstery option I opted for, it can be easily integrated into various decor styles, as it does blend well. If you’re looking for an accent chair to be the center of attention, this may not be the best fit.
