Blackpink member Jennie has made a triumphant return to the Billboard charts with her latest single, “One of the Girls.” The track, a collaboration with The Weeknd and actor Lily-Rose Depp, has quickly become a sales hit. As it debuts on various Billboard rankings this week, Jennie notches another significant milestone in her career.

“One of the Girls” enters the R&B Digital Song Sales chart at No. 11, narrowly missing out on a spot in the top 10. Nonetheless, Jennie’s appearance on the chart is noteworthy, as she seems to be the first solo female South Korean musician to achieve this feat. While other artists from South Korea, such as RM from BTS, Sam Kim, and Jay B from Got7, have previously made their mark on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart, Jennie stands out as a trailblazer for female soloists and girl groups.

In the past, South Korean stars have managed to briefly chart on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart, but their presence has been fleeting. Artists like RM, Sam Kim, and Jay B have all earned a spot on the list, albeit temporarily. It is still relatively rare for foreign musicians, especially those from countries like South Korea, to score R&B hits in the United States. Recently, as these artists expand their reach and diversify their musical output, more and more of them are finding their way onto charts that they historically haven’t performed well on.

“One of the Girls” is one of the latest songs to be released from the TV show The Idol. The show garnered strong ratings but received mixed critical reception, and it has produced several charting tracks. Collaborations with notable artists such as Future, Playboy Carti, and Madonna have emerged from the program and found their way to the Billboard charts. In addition to lending her vocal talents to the track, Jennie also stars in the The Idol under the stage name Jennie Ruby Jane.
