Andy Cohen wasn’t laughing at writer Gary Janetti’s joke about setting The Real Housewives in a prison facility.

“Can’t they put all the Housewives serving time in the same prison and just do a show from there?” Janetti, 58, quipped via Instagram on Wednesday, February 26.

The post prompted Cohen, 56, to reply in the comment section, writing: “too soon, Gary.”

Responding to Cohen, Gary wrote that his idea was “something to think about.”

Lisa Rinna also popped up in the comments, expressing her disapproval with Janetti in one word: “GARY.”

Janetti, who’s married to Hollywood stylist Brad Goreski, was an executive producer on Will and Grace and wrote for Family Guy. His Housewives prison concept came amid the news that Karen Huger — a star of The Real Housewives of Potomac — was sentenced to one year in jail after she was found guilty in her DUI trial.

“You were filled to the gills with alcohol,” the judge reportedly told Huger, 61, during Wednesday’s sentencing. She was expected to begin her sentence immediately.

In March 2024, Huger was involved in a car accident and charged with a DUI and DWI, negligently driving a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner endangering property, life, and person, as well as recklessly driving a vehicle. That December, she was found guilty on all charges except for reckless driving.

Being a Real Housewife can be messy, including on camera screaming matches, legal woes and event arrests. However, there are only a few franchise stars who have actually gone to jail for their scandals. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah began a six and a half-year prison sentence in February 2023 […]

“No, I’m not an alcoholic, let’s be clear,” she recently stated in a pre-taped video that aired during the RHOP reunion. “This is very frightening but I accept full responsibility for everything that went on with my car accident. I don’t care about me right now. I care about my children, I care about my family. They are so hurt.”

Huger missed the reunion taping to seek treatment and “get to the bottom” of “taking antidepressants and drinking.” In court Wednesday, her lawyer said that the “overuse of prescription medicine is what caused the accident.”

Huber is certainly not the first member of The Real Housewives franchise to spend time behind bars.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City‘s Jen Shah began a six-and-a-half-year prison sentence in February 2023 after pleading guilty to her role in a telemarketing scheme that defrauded hundreds of victims.

The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Karen Huger name-dropped third U.S. President Thomas Jefferson and Andy Cohen following her car accident in March. Huger, 61, was found guilty of driving under the influence and four other charges on Wednesday, December 18, though she was acquitted of reckless driving. After the conclusion of her trial in Rockville, […]

Previously, The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa Giudice served 11 months in jail (circa 2015) after being involved in a federal fraud scheme. And Luann de Lesseps famously spent one night in jail following her 2017 arrest for battery, trespassing and disorderly intoxication in Palm Beach, Florida. The Real Housewives of New York City alum accepted a plea deal in 2018 after completing two rehab treatments. De Lesseps addressed her brush with the law on camera, quipping: “I’ve been traveling, I’ve been to prison.”
