To be frank, things are unwell between Alex Cooper and Alix Earle.

Multiple sources reveal in the new issue of Us Weekly that the women are at odds. “There’s a lot of tension,” one source tells Us.

“They’ve had a lot of drama between them [since] they decided to collaborate on Unwell,” a second insider says. “They clashed over business, and their friendship is over because of it.”

Cooper — who hosts the famed “Call Her Daddy” podcast — tapped Earle as her first hire when the Unwell Network officially launched in 2023. The “Hot Mess With Alix Earle” podcast dropped its first episode in September of that year, and Earle started to question whether signing a multi-year deal with the network was a wise choice.

Now, Variety reports that Cooper will no longer produce “Hot Mess,” with a source confirming it’s true that Earle can now explore other opportunities — something she was already looking forward to, per the source.

“Alix is working on bigger projects not related to the podcast space,” one insider adds.

A Guide to Alix Earle’s Family — and Controversies

The same insider reveals to Us that Alix’s dad, Thomas “TJ” Earle, played a role. “Alix’s dad got more involved in her business decisions and did not like what Unwell was doing. He ultimately thought it ended up not being a smart business move,” the source said.

TJ has made a name for himself in the New Jersey construction business. Her family also owns Surfside Frozen Custard in Sea Girt, New Jersey.

“Alix felt taken advantage of,” the first source claims, with a second insider telling Us that Earle had already been “pulling back” from Cooper. She had previously added her younger sister Ashtin Earle to the mix as a cohost.

How Much Travis Kelce, Alex Cooper and More Stars Are Making With Podcasts

“It’s definitely created a different dynamic on the podcast and I’m happy I have her,” Alix told Us while promoting her Carl’s Jr. campaign January. We also just have such differing opinions on things and different stories. So, I think it’s good and only creates more relatable moments for our audience.”

When initially launching the podcast, Alix told Us she was “a little scared” to bare it all on a week-to-week basis — but that has since changed.

“The connection I have with my audience is so candid and it’s sharing those moments that, maybe, aren’t so beautiful at times but everyone can relate to,” she added. “Sometimes I get worried that I share too much after the fact, but I think it’s good to keep that authenticity and connection with my audience and show them the good as well as the bad.”
