Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic will join Strasbourg on a season-long loan deal subject to a medical.

The 24-year-old joined Chelsea from New England Revolution in August 2023 and made 31 first-team appearances across all competitions last season.

Petrovic is one of six goalkeepers in Chelsea’s first-team squad, although Kepa Arrizabalaga has joined Bournemouth on loan while Robert Sanchez has been selected as Enzo Maresca’s No 1 in the Premier League matches so far this season.

The French club are owned by BlueCo, the multi-club ownership group which also controls Chelsea.

Strasbourg also completed the loan signings of left-back Caleb Wiley and midfielder Andrey Santos, both from Chelsea, earlier in the summer window.

Portuguese winger Diego Moreira also joined Strasbourg on a permanent deal earlier this summer, having made one first team appearance for Chelsea.

Strasbourg finished 13th in Ligue 1 last season and made a managerial change over the summer, with Patrick Vieira leaving by mutual consent and replaced by Liam Rosenior.

BlueCo, a consortium led by Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly, paid €76.3million (£65.2m; $81.7m) for a 99.97 per cent stake in the French club in June 2023.
